Full Job Description
The Medical Underwriting team provide support across the Global Individual Health business with the objective of controlling the level of risk that is accepted on cover. We are based across 2 sites in Dubai and UK and work closely on providing the best outcomes for our customers and business partners, while maintaining consistency in our decisions. Daily duties include underwriting applications, assessing requests from existing customers to amend policy benefits, and making decisions on investigations into non-disclosure. In addition to these tasks there is progression to assist with audits, reporting and data analysis. The team are also involved in supporting a number of projects within the business at any given time.

Critical Tasks and Expected Contributions / Results:

• Processing applications and applying correct underwriting decision based on medical history and customer demographic, in line with business and regulatory guidelines;
• Reviewing mid-term requests from existing customers for changes to cover;
• Supporting renewal cases, cost containment and non-disclosure analysis;
• Answering business queries relating to underwriting risk;
• Working with the team to achieve profitable business outcomes;
• Interpretation of data reports relating to key metrics and trends;
• Communicating information to underwriting manager.

Personal Competencies Required:

• Strong time management skills with the ability to prioritize effectively;
• Ability to make quick yet informed and commercially sensible decisions;
• Attention to detail;
• Analytically minded with the ability to investigate and solve problems;
• High degree of professional integrity.

Education and Other Requirements:

• Experience working within the health insurance industry;
• Proficient in Excel and Microsoft skills;
• Excellent English verbal and written skills;
• Medical background preferable but not essential.
