About this opportunity:

The UK & Ireland Field Crop seed business is looking for a marketing manager to help continue to grow this exciting business. Agriculture in the UK is changing rapidly, farmers are faced with tough challenges and our cereal seeds business is well equipped with tools to help farmers deal with some of these.  The role requires ownership of all aspects of the marketing mix from identifying customer focussed products within our R&D pipelines to driving channel and farmer sales strategy.  We are looking for someone with experience in the UK cereal seeds market with a passion for helping farmers get the best out of their land. 

ACCOUNTABILITIES

Portfolio Management and Prioritization

  • Work with the UK seeds team & regional portfolio managers to agree the prioritisation of marketing campaigns that best support our strategies and deliver our sales & profit targets
  • Provide grower insights to combine products and value add services into a relevant offer, execute with excellence
  • Work with R & D teams to develop New Product Introduction launch plans.
  • Define, together with Regional Seeds Team, the Seeds 5 year plan and incorporate into WEBBUS. Maintain a credible plan by providing accurate market and product inputs including a focus on competitor analysis.
  • Properly reflect the impact of current and future competition activities in portfolio design.
  • Actively manage the life cycle of our varieties within portfolio.

Marketing Campaign Development / Scoping

  • Ensure LTO/Stewardship/product sustainability (e.g. resistance management) is an integral part of product positioning and is embedded in campaigns.
  • Understand market drivers, dynamics, and competitive landscape through effective consolidation of insights from customers, sales and market research
  • Work with our sales teams to design and implement measurable sales campaigns with focus on Gross Profit.
  • Provide marketing input/objectives to guide trial set-up for the Technical activities/trials both within the seeds resource and the wider technical team across CU.
  • Work with Marketing Communications and Customer Relationship Management (CRM) to ensure campaign components are focused on relevant Customer Target Groups using media and relationship management to reach those groups.
  • Partner with our marketing communications team to ensure that the portfolio marketing activities support our overall Seeds Brand.
  • Capture campaigns where relevant into SFDC and work with BTLs/Area Managers to ensure data capture.

Marketing Campaign Implementation & Review

  • Drive variety launch events; develop support materials and sales force training.
  • Closely follow market & competitor trends in season. When required, proactively and timely propose adjustments to marketing campaigns and tactical approaches to secure objectives.
  • Provide regular feedback on campaign implementation status and KPIs progression via the weekly E-2-E meetings.
  • Measure campaign efficiency and effectiveness together with Sales and campaign specialists.

Go-To-Market Excellence

  • Contribute to Go-To-Market planning and tactics including variety distribution & seed trade terms: price volume trade-offs, royalty rebate tactics etc
  • Ensure close collaboration with technical team to manage AHDB/NL results
  • Support the Sales team & Customer Services Team in customer engagement where required
  • Support the development of Commercial Policies that contribute to our business strategy

Forecasting

  • Build SPP (Seed Production Plan) to maximise market share & profitability.  Get sign off from Region.
  • Provide clear guidance and insight to design the monthly financial forecast for the portfolio in the monthly forecasting meetings.
  • Build budgets and credible 5-year plan
  • Work in the End-2-End operational team to ensure smooth supply to customers in season.

About you:

You should have marketing experience in the agribusiness industry especially the Cereal seed industry or marketing experience in a related industry. You should have excellent stakeholder management, matrix design and cross functional leadership skills. You know how to optimize campaign KPI’s to enhance performance and drive engagement and conversion on all touchpoints.
You are likely to have a University Bachelor’s Degree in a related discipline along with excellent project management skills and the ability to understand the customer needs, delivering distinctive value propositions and customer-driven offers using market research and intelligence.
Excellent communication skills and the ability to work collaboratively in a multi-disciplinary team are therefore essential to ensure that business needs are translated into user stories that enable the incremental delivery of value to our marketing campaigns.
