Description
This exciting new role will see you working out of our Retail store diagnosing vehicle faults and recommending solutions to our customers. You will use your expertise to guide them to the most immediate technical solution that meets their needs, whether we can fix it in the car park, at our local Autocentre or by arranging for our Halfords Mobile Expert van to fix it at the customer’s home or work.
You’re already an experienced Vehicle Technician / Mechanic with experience of working in an automotive environment. You have great customer facing experience as well as experience of coaching and supervising others.
This role enables you to bring all of your experience together, whilst bringing together our Retail store, Autocentre and Halfords Mobile Expert teams to give our customers seamless support to keep their vehicles in great repair. You will also support, coach and upskill the team to diagnose and offer recommendations.
You’ll monitor customer traffic, conversion rates and will find solutions to improve the customer journey by continually reviewing and evolving our service offering.

You’ll need the following skills and experience for this role:
- Expert technical knowledge and skills in Motoring Services such as car parts fitting, diagnostics and the ability to provide the right solution for the customer’s needs
- Level 3 Qualification in Vehicle Maintenance or equivalent or time served experience
- Ability to engage and communicate with all types of customers and colleagues
- A proactive approach to helping customers and colleagues
- A track record of achieving exceptional results against targets
- Experience of supervising others ideally in a retail sales or automotive based environment and of sharing your expertise
- Experience of planning and prioritising in a similar Retail or automotive based environment
- Experience of delivering great customer service ideally in a retail sales or automotive based environment
