Google Cloud is growing on the two dimensions of customers and Google Cloud Platform (GCP) products. The GCP Console Platform engineering team provides the foundational platform for GCP product teams to build user interface (UI) for their customers.
As the Director of Engineering for the Google Cloud Console Platform, you will select and mentor the leadership team of the Console Platform. You will also lead critical efforts across all GCP product teams from the foundation of the platform.

Minimum qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Engineering, a related field, or equivalent practical experience.
- 15 years of experience in engineering and technical leadership.
- Experience in people management and leadership.
Preferred qualifications:
- Advanced degree.
- Experience as a technical leader influencing multiple teams of engineers concurrently while partnering on development initiatives.
- Experience with ideation and innovating technology at scale, while motivating others to act by creating alignment.
- Ability to take a strategic and entrepreneurial approach and work within a technology and business centered environment.
- Ability to recruit/develop technical team members and inspire/motivate an engineering team to work together as a cohesive and highly productive unit.
Responsibilities
- Provide technical roadmap and strategy for the team. Design and lead a multi-year technical roadmap, managing short- and long-term technology investments.
- Partner closely with product management, user experience, and other engineering teams to create, drive, and deliver an innovative, compelling, and user-friendly experience to our customers.
- Build and lead an engineering team to innovate, invent, implement, and deploy complex software solutions in a commercial, mission-critical environment.
- Unlock roadblocks at corporate level and cultivate collaboration with executive technologists across Google through leadership, creativity, intelligence, and presence.
- Develop and grow talent through effective mentoring, succession planning, and retention strategies for key talent in a fast growth economic environment.
