The purpose of this position is to act as the Senior position in Operations Control Centre (OCC) to assist the OCC Senior Duty Manager/OCC Duty Manager during incident handling, and supervise the Train Controllers, Depot Controllers, Engineering Controllers and Information/Security Controllers during day to day operations.
MAIN RESPONSIBILITIES
- Supervision and coordination of train service in Mainline and Depot.
- Act as team leader on shift.
- Assist Train/Depot Controller in supervising, controlling and monitoring the train movement on the mainline.
- Perform the duties of Train Controller or Depot Controller when required.
- Perform and carry out other duties as instructed/directed by the Duty Manager and Operations Manager.
- Meeting the Key Performance Indicators according to the targets agreed by the Duty Manager and OCC Operations Manager.
- Ensure that end of shift reports are collated, checked and submitted to the Control Centre Duty Manager.
- Assist the OCC Duty Manager to coordinate with external services during incidents and emergencies.
- Perform shift and emergency duties when required.
- Perform and carry out other duties as instructed/directed by the OCC Duty Manager.
- Ensure compliance with the Keolis-MHI Management System and all relevant business processes, procedures and work instructions to deliver all work with appropriate quality and governance standards.
- Ensure security and integrity of all data provided including reporting performance, finance and customer information; reference Keolis-MHI non-disclosure policy.
- To exercise personal duty of care for their own health, safety and welfare and for those affected by their acts or omissions; reference SMS GSOP-HSE1-6 Keolis-MHI organisational HSE responsibilities.
- Ensure compliance with all training requirements of Keolis-MHI and ensure adherence to these requirements at all times whilst in employment.
- Report any accidents, incidents, breaches or potential breaches to appropriate management or the speak up process.
KNOWLEDGE REQUIRED
OCC knowledge of systems and integration of the departments.
Thorough understanding of train operations in a control room environment including train supervision, train regulation, manual route settings and associated activities in a central control room environment.
KEY SKILLS
- Good literacy and analytical skills required for the role.
- Ability to understand complex systems and possess good IT skills.
- Good communication skills and the ability to manage multiple tasks efficiently and work productively in a fast-paced, team-oriented environment.
- Strong organisational skills, detail oriented, and the ability to handle multiple priorities.
EXPERIENCES
A minimum of 1 year, preferably 2 years, of work experience as a traffic controller in a railway setting.
Practical experience of Automatic Train Control, Automatic Train Operation and Automatic Train Systems.
