As a working student your primary focus is to complete your studies by learning and developing your skills, knowledge and behaviors to work towards successful graduation. You will be set objectives and goals by your training provider and hiring team to support your studies.

As an IT Engineer Apprentice at Amazon, you’ll gain a vast range of useful experiences and skills working on IT Support projects, defining requirements and managing execution. These projects may be local or they may be a part of a larger operational excellence/continuous improvement initiative that apply to multiple locations.

Apprentices will gain the Network Engineer L4 and the Digital and Technology Solutions Professional (Integrated Degree) L6 apprenticeships. You will build your skills over a 48-month period starting in August 2022, which will help you develop personally and professionally.

Your apprenticeship will be made up of;

• Classroom/virtual based training to cover knowledge,

• On-the-job training in an Amazon Fulfilment Centre

• Online learning

• Mentoring from our IT team members.

Alongside extensive development of your technical skills, you will also grow your abilities in crucial complementary areas like organization, prioritization, data and problem-solving techniques, teamwork, communication, and presentation skills.

You will work alongside the team supporting with day to day tasks learning how IT works at Amazon and delivers for its customers. As your knowledge and skills increase over the duration of the scheme you will have opportunities to be part of and lead projects, making a difference for customers. The on the job experience will help you build a portfolio of evidence towards your apprenticeship. You will be given dedicated time to focus on your studies to help you stay on track and work towards successfully completing your qualifications. Once you have successfully completed you will be able to apply for relevant roles across the business.

You will attend a number of workshops across the duration of the apprenticeship, workshops will be a mix of face to face and online delivery by a training provider. You will also attend internal workshops/ trainings to support you in developing Amazon related skills and knowledge. Depending on the scheme and location of the training provider you may be required to travel and stay overnight. (costs will be supported by Amazon)

During the first 15 months at Amazon apprentices follow a program designed to offer month on month development in all core elements of the Network Engineer role covering Network Engineering Fundamentals, Network Infrastructure, Network Concepts & Troubleshooting, Network Systems & Architecture and Network Optimisation & Security.

The Digital and Technology Solutions Professional Degree Apprenticeship is the second stage of the integrated program and takes approximately 33 months to complete. Modules at Level 5 and Level 6 will be studied to achieve the BSC (Honours) degree which will be awarded by the University of Roehampton. The modules of study are Business Systems and Processes, Cloud Solutions & Architectures, Cyber Security, Practical Data Analytics, Switching & Routing, Practical Research Proposal, developing Technology Strategy, Contemporary Issues in Digital Technology, Advanced Network Design.

Amazon is the perfect place to start your career in IT, as you progress through the programme you will be able identify root causes of operational issues and participate in continuous improvement efforts to eliminate process inefficiencies. You will develop the skills to author knowledge base articles and user documentation, you will learn to code which may be applied in automating tasks or modifying small tools.

Candidates should have the right to live and work in England.

• For the apprenticeship program we prioritize applicants eligible to government funding for their apprenticeship and for this you need to:

· Have lived in the UK or in the European Economic Area (EEA) for the last 3 years

· Be a resident in England for the entire duration of the program

· Not be registered to study on a UK government funded course ending August 2022 or later

• You will be 18 years old or older before the contract’s start date

• 5 x GCSE’s (grade 4 or above) (or equivalent) including Maths and English and 1 other STEM subject plus IT practical experience e.g. hobby, volunteer or work experience

Please note, you will be required to evidence your qualifications. If you have gained qualifications outside of the UK you will be required to evidence that they are equivalent.

Amazon is a 24/7 operation, you must have flexibility in working hours and shift patterns to provide cover for operational requirements as this role may include working weekends and/or night shifts.

Note: This Apprenticeship assumes the candidate has some or little knowledge/ experience of the occupation, and is NOT suitable for candidates who already have a similar or higher-level qualification in the same or similar subject of the apprenticeship. All our apprenticeships are paid. Compensation may vary by program and location, but is always competitive.

Your recruitment process will start with your online application (providing your CV as well as answering questions about the above basic qualifications) and will then take you onto online testing.

As a last step, we will invite successful candidates to an assessment center where they will participate in a group exercise, execute a practical exercise and get a chance to present their profile, motivation and skills 1-on-1 during interviews or presentations.
